Human Resources Management Essentials: Module 3 - Performance Management and Employee Training and Development

Module 3 provides participants with information that will enable them to enhance the performance management and employee training and development functions within their organizations. This one day workshop covers the following topics: performance management – aligning employee activities and achievement of results to organizational goals; ongoing communication, feedback, dialogue and coaching; organizational climate and culture; employee performance appraisals; compliance with legislated training obligations; training needs assessments and training priorities; and coordination of employee training. Join us in an interactive and engaging session that allows ample time for discussion and application of the concepts being presented.

Effective Planning, Creation and Implementation of Your Trust _ CANCELLED

More and more Indigenous communities are creating Trusts as a result of the increasing number of specific claim settlements, impact and economic benefit agreements and other resources sharing opportunities. The resulting increase in wealth accumulation is placing tremendous responsibility upon leadership and management staff to create effective Trust structures. This workshop is designed to raise awareness and understanding amongst Community Officials about the following topics: how to plan a Trust; increased community readiness; understanding the complexities in creating a Trust; ways to create the most appropriate Trust structure for your needs; key areas in implementing a Trust; and suitable investment strategies that meet the needs of the Trust today and for future generations.

Project Management for Large Infrastructure Projects 

Project Management for Large Infrastructure Projects introduces project management from the standpoint of a manager who must organize, plan, implement, and control tasks to achieve an organization's schedule, budget, and performance objectives as it relates to a major infrastructure project. This 2-day workshop presents several key aspects of project management concepts such as project charter (project brief), scope statement, planning (work breakdown structure), project estimating, and scheduling methodologies are studied and has been designed to ensure compliance with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) requirements and applicable regulations. This workshop will also present financial and administrative tools developed by ISC so that participants can adapt and use them for their own capital projects.  Finally, the workshop will provide advice and recommendations regarding issues and situations encountered in First Nations in Canada.

First Nations Governance III: Nation Building 

This workshop is intended for First Nations leaders and senior Administration working in First Nations. It is designed to provide an effective overview of nation building; self-governance approach and building sustainable, self-determined economies; strong institutions; culture and history; and capacity development. The workshop will introduce you to the best practices used in successful nation building through the fostering of strong institutions, economies, capacity, relationships, and the use of culture and language as an integral part of the operations of Chief and Council, the administration and the community.

NEW  Wills & Estates: The Role of the Executor 

This two-day Indigenous Financial Wellness workshop on the Role of an Executor is designed to provide individuals with an understanding of the work involved in being an Executor and Trustee in the administration of Estates and Testamentary Trusts, as well as a basic grounding in Wills and Will Interpretation. You will also learn about the legal and tax environment, and the level of competence required to be an Executor.
